THE HUMBLE BUMBLE BEE By Robert Hewett Sr
69
This is another of the poems I wrote for a young lady's 9th birthday. The moral to it is don't give up on something you think can be done just because others say it cannot be done.
THE HUMBLE BUMBLEBEE
Watch closely the odd shaped Bumblebee dart.
with a body too fat and wings too short .
Even scientists say it is easily seen,
this creature is not a flying machine.
But watch it now as it hovers so still,
even a helicopter can’t match its skill.
Watch now as it darts like a streak of light,
this Bee shows he knows how to fly all right.
Watch it go, wow; it makes flying look easy,
his wings are so fast they make it breezy.
This Bee is living proof for you and me,
that science can’t top the agile Bumblebee.
If you are told that something can’t be done,
that if you try it you will look real dumb,
just say, “watch the small humble Bumblebee.
God’s proof that the impossible can be.”

The beauty of writing poetry is a poem can come from any source. Your Bumble Bee poem is an interesting one. I have written since I was 10 yrs. and I still love poetry.
Lovely poem I wish I could find writing as easy as you.
Lovely I bet the 9year old loved it.
Thankyou for sharing.
Very nice message. I think another hidden message in this poem is that everyone is special in their own way, like this bumble bee was capable of hovering so still that the helicopter was no match for it.
I like your poem and I like the photo you chose. I had the opportunity this past summer to get some really good shots of a bumblebee going in and out of one flower after another. My little camera captured practically none of it.
I like your breezy, happy poem. Voting up and awesome.
Hi Robert. Great poem. Bumblebees are clumsy at flying . I sometimes must get in the way of their flight path...they crash but keep going. They cannot control their direction in an emergency...lol
Voted up and awesome. Any person would love this, not just nine year olds.
